A solo art exhibition will be presented at the COCC Health Career Center
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) – A solo exhibition by Portland artist and muralist David Carmack Lewis will be on display in the lobby of the Health Careers Center at Central Oregon Community College and in the first floor gallery from October 18 to November 19 , with 12 works presented.
The building is open Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm; masks are mandatory and distancing protocols will be respected.
“I believe it is through storytelling and metaphor, among the oldest tools in art, that we still find new ways of seeing and understanding the familiar,” Lewis said in a statement from one. artist. Over the past decade, his imagery has been firmly entrenched in the landscapes of the American West, often using dramatic lighting and unexpected elements.
Lewis, who began his career as a newspaper artist, received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Virginia Commonwealth University and attended the South Glamorgan Institute of Higher Education in Cardiff, Wales. His work has been exhibited at the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center, the Arts Center in Corvallis, and the Attic Gallery. The artist received a grant from the Ford Family Foundation, the Oregon Arts Commission and the Regional Arts & Culture Council of Portland.
