Marquis Art & Frame Second Floor Gallery, 122 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, will be holding an opening reception from 5 to 8 p.m. on the third Friday, September 2, featuring works by Alan McLaughlin and Jordan Semar. The exhibition runs until November 2. Regular gallery opening hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Alan McLaughlin, a transplant recipient from New Jersey, attended King’s College and works as a graphic designer at Pepperjam. He is a huge fan of painting, hiking, gazing into the night sky and wondering exactly what we are doing on this planet.
Jordan Semar is a web designer / graphic designer and artist who has spent the past decade living in NEPA. Originally coming to the area to attend Wilkes University for its Integrative Art and Media program, he later got a position on the creative team at Pepperjam, formerly eBay Enterprise, where he currently works in downtown Wilkes Barre.
Having a deep passion for art, music and action sports, these interests tend to be reflected in her work. Semar likes to draw inspiration from everything around him, constantly paying attention to the shapes of everyday objects around us. Regardless of the medium he works on, his work tends to use bright colors, clean lines and incites emotion to engage viewers who observe his work.
