An exhibition of Ukrainian art in Marbella, Spain
AN exhibition of contemporary Ukrainian art starts today in Marbella.
From July 8 to 10, the Wadström Tönnheim Gallery will present some of the best modern Ukrainian art.
The exhibition, titled “Art for Freedom”, aims to support Ukrainian artists during the war, many of whom fled the country.
The exhibition includes paintings, graphics, photographs and sculptures by 15 Ukrainian artists.
Some of the artists currently live in occupied territory or in war-torn Kyiv.
Curator Svitlana Starostenko said: “There are many talented artists in Ukraine – promising and already well known. It is only natural that the works of our authors today reflect horrible and tragic events that should not have happened in the civilized world.
Organizers said the exhibited works were made by artists scattered across Ukraine and around the world.
“Wherever Ukrainian artists are, none of them stop creating,” they said.
The event was supported by Future for Ukraine – an international charity foundation set up by ten Ukrainian women to support victims of war.
“We are happy to have the opportunity to cooperate with Spain, the homeland of many amazing artists,” Starostenko said.
