Griffith Regional Art Gallery calls for entries for 2022 Community Art Exhibition

AUDIO VISIONS is the Griffith Regional Art Gallery’s 2022 Community Art Exhibition and they are calling for entries!

Are you inspired by music and art? Have you ever thought of combining the two to create your own unique masterpiece? If this concept intrigues you, AUDIO VISIONS is the show for you!

Many great modern artists, including Paul Klee, Henri Matisse, Marc Chagall, Piet Mondrian and Wassily Kandinsky, have used music as inspiration for art. Through painting or sculpture, these artists found a way to visually reflect their strong emotional response to music. Artists’ choice of color or brushstrokes were often a direct result of the melody and rhythm they heard via musical composition – artworks were often painted quickly or in multiple sessions over repetitive music .

Griffith Regional Art Gallery Coordinator Ray Wholohan said, “We are very excited about this year’s theme and hope that many local artists will be inspired by the prospect of entering AUDIO VISIONS. Submitting works to the exhibition is very simple, just fill in a registration form, paint your favorite piece of music and drop them both off at the Gallery by Friday April 1st.

Mr. Wholohan encourages all members of the arts community to participate.

“Let your ears be the source of creativity for works inspired by your favorite pieces of music. Because art and music are the embodiment of creativity,” he said.

The AUDIO VISIONS exhibition will be held from Thursday April 14 to Sunday May 15, 2022. Registration forms are available on the Gallery’s website or on site at the Art Gallery, registration closes Friday April 1 at 5 p.m. .
