Oceanside Black History Month Art Exhibition – February 19 – OsideNews

Oceanside CA—Cynthia’s Artistic Expressions, a veteran-owned art gallery and sip-and-paint studio, will celebrate Black History Month with a “Black Love Matters” art exhibit. Cynthia’s Artistic Expression is located at 713 Mission Ave. Ste. C in downtown Oceanside.

They will feature artwork by Navy veteran WB and artist Mike as well as artwork by active duty Marine Linda Aviles. They showcase the extraordinary artistic talents of local artists of color within our military and veteran community. This event takes place on Saturday, February 19 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and is open and free to the public.

“Our goal is to share the therapeutic benefits of using art as a productive way to treat PTSD, depression and anxiety that are prevalent in the community, especially the military community. Being a veteran myself diagnosed with PTSD, I’ve used art along with therapy and found it extremely helpful in reducing my symptoms,” said Cynthia May, owner of Cynthia’s Artistic Expressions. “I can get lost in the creative process for hours and that’s time I don’t spend being anxious or tense My hope is to teach veterans and the active duty military community that art isn’t just a kid’s game , but a real tool to use as part of their treatment plan.
