(Wiscasset, ME) For the last show of the season, the Maine Art Gallery in Wiscasset features four fine art photographers, each celebrating Maine through their own perspective and aesthetic. “Our Maine” includes works by Terry rental, Jim nickelson, Lisa Mossel Vietze, and Olga Merrill who explore Maine through images that are both abstract and representative, all with a unique vision of aspects of our local environment.

The show opens with a welcome on Saturday September 25 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Jud Caswell, singer-songwriter of folklore tradition, will provide the music. The show runs until October 16.

This show, originally designed by Lisa Mossel Vietze for the Archipelago Gallery in Rockland, has been redesigned for the Maine Art Gallery with new works and almost the same list of artists. Each artist brings a particular point of view and presents us with rich details that we often miss in typical Maine photographic representations.

Terry rental, who died in early 2020, was a designer and gardener who focused his photography on the abandoned man-made environment.

Olga MerrillThe seascape images of have an almost meditative feel of slowness of a mysterious painted image.

Lisa Mossell Vietze is attracted to plants for their color, vibrations, shape and vitality. She finds beauty in smaller landscapes, like that of a flower.

Jim nickelson uses photography to confront the unknown and our relationship to the Universe. His investigation is vast, plunging into the realm of science and cosmology.

Our Maine is sponsored by Bob Bond of 40 Federal Street Studio. Maine Art Gallery‘s Season Sponsor is Sherri Dunbar of Tim Dunham Realty.
